Water is vital for life, so we
need to use and manage it effectively as Ashford grows.
The River Stour, which flows through Ashford, has demonstrated
its dynamic character with episodes of both extreme low flows and
severe flooding, and Ashford's Future is committed to ensuring all
developments use water efficiently and sustainably.
In 2003 the government funded an Ashford Integrated Water
Management Study (AIWMS) to plan exactly how the environment can
accommodate the growth of housing and employment, whilst still
conserving our ecological heritage.
