Victoria Way opens

Victoria Way, a new route to the south of the town centre, opened earlier this month, providing better access to the heart of the town and the station.

The new road is an attractive, tree-lined avenue extending from the existing Victoria Road opposite the train station, and continuing through brownfield industrial land to join with the A28 near Matalan.

The new road also includes a new public square, John Wallis Square, adjacent to Victoria Road Primary school with seating and public art displays.

As well as improving access Victoria Way will allow the town centre to grow by providing business and commercial development opportunities. 

The £16.5m project was funded through Community Infrastructure Funding from Communities and Local Government and the Department for Transport.
