Junction 10a

A major addition to Ashford's road network is planned for the
future to help ease heavy traffic and open up some large
development opportunities.
The new junction for the M20 motorway, called 10a, has
been planned just south of the exisitng Junction 10
M20, to improve access to the east of Ashford and allow
development of new business and residential opportunities of
Cheeseman’s Green.
The proposed scheme involves the construction of a new
roundabout east of the existing Junction 10 connecting directly to
the A20 Hythe Road and a new link back to the A2070.
It is hoped that the new network will improve journey times
around the town, make it easier to access the area for
visitors, and improve safety for all road users. A new link road
will also provide access to the proposed commerical development
area at Sevington.
The scheme will be jointly funded by the Department for
Transport and the Homes and Communities Agency. A business case is
being developed for the scheme, and will be reviewed by the
Government in the near future.
The plans will be considered for the next round of Government
funding, with construction of the scheme starting beyond 2015.
