Roads
Ashford benefits from a strong road network
that provides excellent links to the UK and the continent.
As Ashford continues to grow, it is important our the
town's transport infrastructure can cope with the increased
traffic, and a number of improvements projects are planned or
are already underway to help the town meet the needs of its
growing population.
Recent improvements include increasing capacity and access
to M20 junctions 9 and 10, improving town
centre road junctions, remodelling the former town centre
ring road and better traffic management. Other successes
to date include the major remodelling of the former ring road and
introduction of the UK's first shared
space scheme in the town centre, and improvements to a key
transport artery through the Willesborough area that was
previously constrained by a low level narrow width railway
bridge.
