Greenov
From installing solar
panels on the office roof to putting an energy monitor in
the home, green renovations can help businesses and residents save
energy, water and money.
Greenov (Green Renovation
Cluster) is a European Interreg IVB project between 10
organisations from North West Europe that encourages both the
general public and businesses to think green when renovating
existing buildings or constructing new ones.
Ashford’s Future is a partner in Greenov, and
is committed to promoting the benefits of green renovation across
all sectors. Two projects currently underway, and part-funded
by growth area funding from Ashford’s Future, benefit from Greenov
funding, and will be used by the EU as examples of successful
green renovations both locally and internationally:
Ashford Gateway
Plus
An iconic new building for Ashford housing a
library, numerous public services, café and a wedding venue under
one roof, and will feaure:
- Sustainable energy generation (solar PV, air
source heat pump)
- Sustainable urban drainage (green roof &
grey water harvesting)
Art at St Mary’s
An exciting arts
project for the town centre, which will see the historic St Mary’s
Church ‘reordered’ to accommodate large music and arts events,
while continuing to serve the community as a place of worship.
- Sustainable energy generation (Ground source heat pump)
- Sustainable urban drainage (rainwater harvesting)
- Energy efficient appliances (LED lights)
In addition, Ashford’s Future launched the
trial Savings at Home project in early 2010 to
help residents save water, energy and money through green
retrofitting in the home, and gave hundreds of homeowners free
advice and equipment.
