Major Investments

The £2.5 billion of planned investment in Ashford is on track to deliver major infrastructure improvements, commercial developments, retail and leisure schemes, and new state of the art learning facilities all within the next four years.

Below are some of the recent events and developments which are likely to happen in the next few years.

Completion of the 200,000 sq ft (18,581 sq m) extension to County Square Shopping Centre including a Debenhams department store. Introduction of high-speed rail services to London reducing the travel time to 37 minutes. Start of capacity improvements to Junction 9 and nearby Drovers Roundabout of the M20 motorway. Completion of Victoria Way, a new road link south Ashford through to the heart of the town centre.
Completion of the transformation of the former Ring Road into a series of two-way streets. Improvements to the station approach area, ahead of high-speed rail services. £24 million investment to improve the supply and quality of water. Completion of J9/Drovers Roundabout works including a new foot/cycle bridge over the M20.  
Raising and widening of Newtown Road Bridge to improve access to the south of the town centre.   Development of Elwick Place, a 6.65 acre town centre, mixed use scheme. Completion of the Arts at St Mary's project to create a new arts venue and improved place of worship in the parish church
Opening of the Singleton Environment Centre community facility.     Completion of Ashford Gateway Plus
